A Note From Our Principal
Discovery Isle Families,
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we are thrilled that December is finally upon us. It truly is the best time of the year with our preschool students! The holiday season is a time to celebrate community, diversity, and the universal joy of giving. Our students will be learning about traditions observed around the world by singing songs, making art, tasting seasonal treats, and so much more! Teachers will be sending additional information in the coming weeks via Links 2 Home in regard to their classroom holiday celebrations. As always, thank you for allowing us to teach and care for your children. The memories of winter holidays will last a lifetime with family celebrations and school performances.
Thank you to those of you who took the time to complete our surveys. The results are final, and a qualitative analysis of the data has been conducted. I will reach out to you to share some of the feedback we received in the next couple of weeks. The feedback that will influence some policy changes will be in regard to email communications. We will continue to address the nation-wide teacher shortage and share transparent communication.
I want to extend the “open door” policy of my office to all parents. We want to hear from you, serve you to the best of our ability, and partner with you on this journey to provide a high-quality learning community for all families. Check out our December Events for the month.
Kindly,
Ms. Vanessa & Ms. Michelle
Santa Clause is Coming to Discovery Isle
Santa will be visiting us here at Discovery Isle, Carlsbad on Monday, December 5th. He will be joined by our special photographers from PPI Photo Events (our Fall Festival Photographer).
Please see the attached information to sign up for pictures with Santa. Flyers are also available in the front office.
Holiday Giving
This November, we partnered with Casa de Amparo to bring them donations off of their amazon wish list. We are thankful for our wonderful community! Our annual holiday giving initiative was a huge success and was a great way for students to spread cheer this holiday season while developing an appreciation for what they have, showing gratitude towards others, and seeing the positive impact of their actions. Thank you for your generosity in helping others in need.
Holiday Closures
Our school is closed on December 23rd and 26th for Christmas and December 30 and January 2 for New Year’s Day. Please mark your calendar.
Cubby Refresh
If you’ve not already done so, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket, closed toed shoes and dressed warmly enough to play outside for part of the day. Take home anything that no longer fits and leave a spare set of well-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes, including a winter hat and gloves for the cooler days outdoors. We want everyone to be able to participate!
