A Note From Our Principal
The year is off to a quick start and we’re enjoying spending the winter season with you and your children. If you’ve not already done so, please send in an extra set of weather appropriate clothes for your child, labeled with their first and last name. We want everyone to be able to participate in the fun outdoor activities we have planned. Please ensure your child has a water bottle each day, labeled with their first and last name, and remember to bring it home each night to sanitize.
As always, it is an honor to work with and watch your children grow. Thank you for choosing our preschool for your family!
We want to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication of our teachers. Not only are they managing their classrooms, but they are also stepping in to support colleagues in other classrooms with a smile. Keeping our families informed and engaged is important to us, and our team is working tirelessly to make sure the Discovery Isle team is staying connected. Thank you, teachers, for your hardwork and commitment!
As our school continues to grow we are looking for qualified teachers to join our team. In the meantime, you may see Ms. Brandi and Ms. Alisa stepping in to support, mentor, and guide classrooms, ensuring consistency and continued learning. Ms. Brandi has officially stepped into Room 2 to help establish routines while also supporting curriculum implementation and teacher training. We also are grateful to have Ms. Kiya our substitute teacher, continuing to support us the month of February. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these transitions and recruit more teachers.
We also want to thank and acknowledge the parents for your continued support and grace. I thank you all for your patience and understanding as we navigate through each day. Your encouragement and partnership mean the world to us, and we truly value the open communication we share. Please know that our door is always open.
With gratitude,
Ms. Vanessa, Ms. Alisa, and Ms. Brandi
Black History Month
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Our students will learn about local and influential African Americans. We’ll be celebrating in the classroom by reading books, making arts and crafts, learning experiences, classroom discussions and continuing our discussion on acceptance and belonging.

Illness Policy
Parents assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all our children by keeping sick children at home.
The purpose of our sick child policy is to:
* Reduce the spread of illness from a sick child to other children.
* Promote complete recuperation of the sick child.
* Prevent the constant spread of cold, flu and diarrhea that are so common among small children.
Parents must keep sick children at home until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours if they display any of the following:
Fever of 100.4 degrees or more. Children must be free of fever for at least 24 hours, unassisted by fever-reducing medication before returning to school.
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Heavy nasal discharge requiring frequent wiping every 3-5 minutes
Persistent, non-productive or “barking” cough
Sore throat
Fussy, cranky behavior unlike the child’s normal demeanor
Skin rash, including diaper rash
Head lice
Symptoms of a communicable disease such as pink eye, measles, chicken pox, mumps, or strep throat.
We reserve the right to refuse admittance to any student who shows a sign of illness. Children who become ill at school will be made comfortable and parents will be notified to pick them up within one hour.
After an illness, your child must remain at home with no fever or symptoms, without the aid of any medication, for one full day before he or she may return to school.
Providing a physician’s note does not negate the policy requiring your child to remain home for one full day and be symptom-free before returning to school.
Thank you for your support and understanding. Together, we can help keep others healthy!
