Wow…What an amazing start to 2018! We would like to welcome all new families to our school and thank all of our current families for their support and dedication to their child’s classroom.
Although February is the shortest month there is a lot going on. This month we celebrate Dental Health, African American History and American Heart month. The central message for the children this month is one of friendship and peace. People playing and working together in peace and friendship makes for a beautiful world. February is also the month of love, red hearts, Valentines and special cards for special people. Each classroom will be doing extra fun activities. Be sure to check your child’s class “Parent Board” to keep up to date on all of the special activities being offered.
Ground Hog Day- Friday, February 2, 2018
Tradition has it that if a ground hog emerges from it’s burrow on this day and doesn’t see it’s shadow, because the weather is cloudy, winter will soon end. If the ground hog sees it’s shadow, because the weather is bright and clear, it will be frightened and run back to its hole and the winter will be extended by six weeks.
Permanent Impressions will be here Friday, 2/2/18. This program was designed to protect our children. The County Sheriff’s Office personnel will visit our school for the sole purpose of fingerprinting, palm prints, writers palm, foot impressions, iris/retinal scan and facial recognition. They will also distribute DNA kits. In the unfortunate event that a child becomes missing, parents can release this information to the proper authorities. Siblings welcome!
If you are interested in having a kit done for your child, there will be a display in the front lobby area, which lists all the options available. Registration forms are available at the front desk. Forms and payments should be made in advance and can be turned in to the front office. Officer Legaspi will be here on Friday, 2/2/18 to complete the kits. All of the proceeds of this service go to the California Police Youth Charity (CPYC).
Valentines Day- Wednesday, February 14, 2018
Each classroom will be celebrating Valentines Day. Please see your child’s teacher for details.
We will be closed Friday, February 16th for our Annual Professional Growth Day. This is a day that Discovery Isle has set aside to enhance the education of our staff. We are committed to providing a work environment that fosters personal and professional growth. We strive to increase opportunities for career advancement in the industry and our organization in particular. For these reasons, we value this day very highly. We appreciate your support in helping us make this investment in your child’s teacher. Thank you, for allowing us to be a part of your child’s early childhood education.
