From the Front Office:
It is hard to believe the summer is here! This has been a year of growth and change here at Discovery Isle. We are very excited for the new school year to get underway! This month we are celebrating Independence Day and students are jumping into action, playing games, exploring nature, being creative, and participating in other fun summer-themed activities. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer holds for us. Our plan to bring back the meaningful events that help families to connect with each other and their child’s learning community throughout the school year. The staff at Discovery Isle, Carlsbad, is fully committed to partnering with families to build relationships and enhance the opportunities for connections throughout the school year. Please let us know if there are any celebration important to you and your family, we would love to connect them into our Links to Learning in the classroom.
For your child’s safety, please send your child to school in closed toed shoes each day!
Now is time to spread the word to all of your friends that Discovery Isle has limited spaces available for our 2022-2023 school year! Help us make the most of every child’s potential, by inviting your friends for a tour at Discovery Isle! And, here is the good news for you: if your friend registers their child you will receive a week of free tuition once they are enrolled for three months!
Please know your input and feedback are greatly appreciated. We would love to hear from you! Please feel free to stop by the office or send an email. Thank you for being part of our community!
Cheers to a fabulous 4th,
Ms. Vanessa & Ms. Michelle
Medication and Sunscreen Policy Reminder
Just a friendly reminder that our medication policy states that we can only administer medicine that has been prescribed by a doctor. We cannot administer over the counter medication without a doctor’s note with explicit instructions on how to administer it.
Regarding sunscreen, if you would like your child’s teacher to apply sunscreen throughout the summer months, please complete the “Sunscreen Authorization Form” located in the front office. We ask that you bring your child in their own sunscreen and apply a coat of sunscreen before they come to school. All sunscreen will be applied after nap unless noted differently by a parent.
Cubby Refresh
As a reminder, please make sure to refresh the spare clothing in your child’s cubby. Take home anything that no longer fits and leave a spare set of well-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes.
Happy Birthday!
We want to make your child’s birthday a special day! Please see the front office if you plan to bring in a special treat for your child to share with his/her class. With restrictions lifted we can celebrate again, we just need to ensure we have proper approval and items to share.
We encourage the following to share:
+Bubbles +Frozen Banana
+Yogurt +Stickers, markers or crayons
+Fresh Fruit +Healthy Cookie
(enough for each child in the class)
Again, it is important to check with the front office due to food allergies. Thank you for your help in providing a healthy, fair, manageable birthday for your child
Kids Helping Communities
Each summer, we participate in a service initiative to give back to communities in need. This summer, we will be collecting food items for the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. This will begin July, 11 through July, 21. We will be sending additional information soon via Links 2 Home.
