A Note from Our Principal
Happy April! Now that spring has arrived, we’re looking forward to spending even more time exploring the outdoors with your children. Taking advantage of the beautiful weather helps children learn and grow as they discover new things in their environment. Our teachers are planning outdoor games, lessons and picnics to celebrate spring. We also have Week of the Young Child and Earth Day this month! We can’t wait to share these activities with your child. Please check out our calendar for the month of April Events
Parent Survey Reminder
Thank you to those that took the opportunity to support all of us here at Discovery Isle, Carlsbad by filling out the parent survey that was recently delivered to your email. Your feedback is an essential part of our continuous improvement. Positive comments help the teachers feel valued and supported in their efforts each day. If you have not had the chance, please fill out the parent survey that closes on March 31st. This survey provides the opportunity for you to give us feedback anonymously on our strengths and areas we can work on. Please let us know if you haven’t received it. We sincerely appreciate the feedback and look forward to continuously improving our community!
Reminders:
Please make sure that your child has a spare set of well-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes that are labeled with their name in their cubby. Additionally, now is a great time to start collecting sunscreen. We ask that you apply sunscreen to your child in the morning and we will reapply in the afternoon after nap time. Please label all containers of sunscreen that you send to school with your child’s name.
Please ensure you are arriving to school each day by 9am each day. If you are running late or your child will be out for the day, please send a quick tadpole note or give a phone call so we can plan for the day ahead. We also ask that you do not pick up and drop off during nap time- 12:30-2:30. By doing so, it will ensure we are not disturbing the children during rest time and that we are able to maintain ratios while the teachers take their lunch breaks. If for some reason, there is a time you will need to pick up/drop off during these hours, please partner with the front office so we can accommodate your child.
Week of the Young Child
Week of the Young Child, April 1-7, recognizes young students, their teachers, and their families for all their hard work. This annual event, sponsored by The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), allows us to showcase the importance of early childhood education, our Links to Learning curriculum, and everyone who makes it possible. We have many fun activities planned for Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday, and Family Friday. We will send more information via Links 2 Home soon.
Earth Day
Earth Day falls on a Saturday this year, so we will be celebrating throughout the week in our classrooms.
Did You Know?
The weather outside helps students learn inside. They don’t just describe what they see and feel. They use a thermometer to measure and chart their findings… learning to stimulate scientific thinking and make predictions.
Open House / Family Referral Bonus
Our next Open House is on April 29th… so don’t forget about our referral bonus! When you refer a friend and they enroll, you’re eligible for a free week of tuition. Ask us for more details.
