A Note from Our Principal
Get ready for an awesome summer! Our teachers and staff are busy planning a fun and unforgettable experience for our students. From sports and games to arts and crafts, we have something for everyone. We will be sharing more information soon via Links 2 Home about our upcoming events and activities. As always, we are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
I am excited to share that our preschool has officially completed our observation assessment for our final step in our journey towards national reaccreditation. This school year we have been preparing for national reaccreditation supported by the standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process by which early childhood programs demonstrate that they consistently meet national standards of excellence.
NAEYC’s 10 standards of excellence in early childhood education is focused on improving the well-being of young children, with particular emphasis on the quality of educational and developmental services for children from birth through age 8. NAEYC’s high standards align with our Links to Learning curriculum and our commitment and dedication to what is good for young children. Programs that meet these standards provide a safe and healthy environment for students, have teachers who are well-trained, have access to excellent teaching materials, and work with curriculum that is appropriately challenging and developmentally sound.
Over the past several months, we have been reexamining our day-to-day practices, reviewing our many pieces of family communication, and other facets of our program. Our staff were an integral part of the reaccreditation process in gathering and showcasing their lesson plans, daily reports, Family Reports, photos of their work and more items which will all be enveloped into classroom digital portfolios for review. These past few days we have come to the end of the reaccreditation process, national assessors have visited our school for our reaccreditation visit.
This is a journey of high importance to us. We want to be nationally recognized and share the good news of Discovery Isle with other families in Carlsbad once we receive the results. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have. Please call or stop by the office and we can share more information with you.
Warmly,
Ms. Vanessa & Ms. Michelle
