A Note From Our Principal
Dear Families,
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we are thrilled that December is finally upon us. It truly is the best time of the year with our preschool students! As the winter season approaches, we are filled with excitement for the festivities ahead. We believe in creating a nurturing environment that celebrates the rich traditions that make each family unique. This month, our students will delve into different holiday traditions from all corners of the globe through hands-on activities, music, art, and more. Teachers will be sending additional information in the coming weeks via Links 2 Home in regard to their classroom holiday celebrations. Stay tuned!
Thank you to those of you who took the time to complete our surveys. The results are final, and a qualitative analysis of the data has been conducted. I will reach out to you to share some of the feedback we received in the next couple of weeks. The feedback that will influence some policy changes will be in regard to email communications. We will continue to address the nation-wide teacher shortage and share transparent communication.
Thank you to all of our wonderful students, parents, grandparents and teachers for supporting our Scholastic Book Fair! We raised over a thousand dollars. We have purchased books for our classrooms and will continue to do so over the next couple of months. Thank you again for making it a success.
I want to extend the “open door” policy of my office to all parents. We want to hear from you, serve you to the best of our ability, and partner with you on this journey to provide a high-quality learning community for all families. Check out our December 2023 Events for the month.
Together, let’s make this holiday season a time of warmth, connection, and shared memories.
With Gratitude,
Ms. Vanessa & Ms. Michelle
Santa Clause is Coming to Discovery Isle
Santa will be visiting us here at Discovery Isle, Carlsbad on Thursday, December 14th. He will be joined by our special photographers from PPI Photo Events (our Fall Festival Photographer).

Holiday Giving
The holidays are a time for giving, and as you know, our school is doing our part in giving back to those in need. We greatly appreciate all the parent support with these initiatives, in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. The donations not only matter to those who receive them, but our students are so proud to help others. This December, we will be partnering with HOPE, North County to provide them donations of toiletries for woman and children experiencing homelessness while they rebuild their lives and reclaim independence. We are thankful for such a wonderful community, please see see attached for Discovery Isle’s Community Holiday Giving.
Holiday Closures
Our school is closed on December 22nd and 25th for Christmas and December 29th and January 1st for New Year’s Day. Please mark your calendar. In addition, please see our updated 2023.2024 Calendar
Cubby Refresh
If you’ve not already done so, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket, closed toed shoes and dressed warmly enough to play outside for part of the day. Take home anything that no longer fits and leave a spare set of well-fitting, weather-appropriate clothes, including a winter hat and gloves for the cooler days outdoors. Please make sure to label all clothing and items brought to school with your child’s name.
From Our Education Team
The holiday season is not just about festive decorations and presents. It’s a time to reflect on the past year, learn about different traditions, and most importantly, instill a spirit of charity. Giving back is an integral part of our school. Whether we’re collecting food, toys, gifts, or clothing… it’s[.....]
