Hello Families,
March is here, bringing with it unpredictable weather and fun times on the Isle. On the 2nd we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Dress up your child as a favorite character, and/or bring your favorite book.
Priority registration begins on the 13th and ends on the 17th. Further information available later in this newsletter.
School Age Spring Camp is April 3rd-7th. It may seem far away, but you can sign up now and secure your spot, limited space is available!
As I am sure you are all aware, there has been a lot sickness going around our school. If your child is showing symptoms of any illness, please keep them home so as not to infect anyone else. If you must work, please try to make arrangements because getting sick is inevitable. And, your child feels better at home than sick at school.
Thank you!

This month’s author is Dr. Seuss. Did you know that rhyming is an essential skill central to reading success? Rhyming is one component of phonological awareness, the ability to hear and manipulate individual sounds in a language. Dr. Seuss books are full of fun rhymes. As you read aloud make sure to read in rhythm so your child can hear how the words flow. Also ask your child to name other words that rhyme with a particular word. Some of my favorite Dr. Seuss book are:
Green Eggs and Ham
The Cat in the Hat
Yurtle the Turtle
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
The Lorax
Horton Hears a Who
Priority Registration Time
March 13th-17th
It’s time again to re-register for the 2017-2018 school year. See Ms. Christy or Ms. Tina to receive your registration packet. Be sure to meet the deadline to save your space, we have waiting lists for some classes! And as always, we thank you for allowing us to care for your children. It’s going to be a colorful year!
Reminder
We are closed on March 31st for professional growth day!
Recipe of the Month
Grandpa McAndrew’s Irish Soda Bread
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/2 cup raisins
1 egg, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons margarine, melted
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a cast iron skillet.
In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda and sugar. Toss the raisins with the flour mixture until coated. Make a well in the center and add the egg, buttermilk, and melted margarine. Stir until all of the dry ingredients are absorbed. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for a few quick turns just to even out the dough. Handle the dough as little as possible. Pat into a flat circle, and place into the prepared pan.
Bake the bread for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are golden.
